Is there a good way to improve my leadership qualities?

You have obviously realised that there is an issue, now what you need to ask yourself is why is there an issue. Is is perhaps your style of leadership? Generally within the army we say there are three styles of leadership, autocratic, democratic and "laissez faire" (from the french meaning literally leave well alone), which is generally considered a poor style. However a good leader should and will use all 3 even the last one. The trick is knowing when to! What you are experiencing is nothing knew and I wish could give you more, unfortunately it is a case of learning from your mistakes.
