Will I get to go home for the birth of my child while deployed?

So i just got out of basic training and i'm stationed at fort knox, ky and I'm getting deployed in a couple weeks to afghanistan. My unit left in december and january. So im getting there a few months into the deployment. My wife is pregnant and is due on November 9th. So my question is, will i be able to come home for the birth of my first born? And also would I get R&R? Then would they make me go back out with only 1 to 1 1/2 months left of being deployed? If you can give me some good answers that would be great. The NCO in charge of me said i would be able to come home, but he didn't sound too sure.
